The Latrobe Performing Arts Centre is delighted to announce a second session of the documentary Paul Kelly: Stories of Me to be screened on Monday 25 February at 8.45pm.

Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the film was an intimate portrait of one of Australia’s foremost singer-songwriter.

“In a career spanning more than thirty years Paul Kelly has documented the history of our country, described its landscapes and cities, and captured the lives and loves of its citizens, none more so than himself.

“The documentary will be loved by all music fans, not just Paul Kelly’s fans. It offers an insight into the man behind the songs,” Ms Roberts said.

“Tickets for LPA members are free and for non-members the price is $7. You can still purchase an LPA membership and get all the benefits through the rest of the year. Visit http://www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/About_Council/Arts_and_Culture/Latrobe_Performing_Arts_and_Venues to find out more.

Ms Roberts added that the movie is part of the National Film & Sound Archive Big Screen Series and members get the benefit of free movie screenings throughout the year.

“These evenings are proving to be extremely popular and the next film to be shown is Swerve on Monday 25 March. Again a second 8.45pm session has been added, following on from the sell-out 7pm session.

“The Australian movie Swerve is a thriller featuring Jason Clarke as Colin, who is driving cross-country to a job interview, when he takes a short cut and comes across a fatal road accident. Beside the dead body is a briefcase full of money, which Colin turns in to the local police, but getting out of town proves a nightmare.

“These films work well in the intimate surroundings of the Performing Arts Centre and we’re delighted that the Big Screen series is proving so popular,” Ms Roberts concluded.

Paul Kelly: Stories of Me will screen on Monday 25 February at 7pm and 8.45pm. The early show is sold out. Tickets for the 8.45pm screening are available from the box office on 5176 3559.
