The Beyond the Classroom exhibition will open on Friday 8 February at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon from 6pm with a mix of visual and performing arts on display to showcase the creative talents of local VCE students.
Latrobe City Council’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said the exhibition was a great opportunity for the young artists to display their works.
“Their studies deliver them the chance to create pieces of art or performance pieces which is fantastic for developing their creative talents but to have the opportunity to put on a formal exhibition of their work is an exciting prospect for the students.
“The Latrobe Performing Arts Education Program is very proud to offer this opportunity to celebrate the considerable achievements they have made in their VCE art and design work,” Ms Roberts said.
“Works on display are from students at Lavalla, Kurnai Flinders Christian Community College and Traralgon Colleges who have studied drama, studio art, visual communications, and theatre studies.
“Beyond the Classroom will showcase three performances from the 2012 drama and theatre studies solo exams. This program is designed to provide support, encouragement and networking opportunities in the years beyond secondary school. It also provides the visitor with an opportunity to appreciate art in all its forms,” Ms Roberts said.
The exhibition will continue until Wednesday 13 March.
