Sister City Relationships

The overall goal is to provide an environment for the community of Latrobe City whereby it is able to prosper from international relations with the City of Takasago and Taizhou. The cities have underpinned their sister-city relationship on cultural, educational and economic development exchanges.

1. Economic Development
   To identify, develop and sustain economic development opportunities.
2. Educational Exchange
   To identify, develop and sustain educational opportunities and exchanges.
3. Cultural Exchange
   To identify, develop and sustain cultural opportunities and exchanges.

1. To develop a communications program to better enhance the Latrobe City community's understanding of the value of our international relations program;
2. To develop and further enhance our relationships with our sister cities; Takasago City, Japan and Taizhou City, China;
3. To promote Latrobe City as a destination for international students;
4. To promote Latrobe City as a destination for international businesses;
5. To capitalise on the activities of individual groups and organisations to benefit the wider region;
6. To foster involvement of community groups and organisations in all aspects of international relations;
7. To broaden the range of existing cultural, sporting, educational and youth exchange opportunities;
8. To identify funding assistance opportunities that will facilitate meeting the objectives of the International Relations Plan;
9. To identify and market the economic and cultural strengths of Latrobe City internationally.
