What is International Relations?

Latrobe City desires to promote common prosperity and development by way of exchange and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, culture, education, sports, health, personnel, etc.

The main intent of international relationships, which is supported world wide, is to establish peace, goodwill and friendship between nations.

One of the ways in which Council can achieve its goals is through the establishment and management of formal sister city relationships in order to gain a deeper understanding of each other's culture, traditions, society and people.

A key to achieving this deeper understanding is through young people and this is why the primary focus of Council's programs is with the youth of the community.

Whilst acknowledging that the main aim is to establish peace, goodwill and friendship, Council has managed to achieve many other direct outcomes to the benefit of the municipality. These benefits will only increase as the formal relationships between Latrobe and its sister cities and other international places become stronger and involve more and more people.
